A dump pouch provides fast temporary storage for empty magazines and other items that need to be stowed without carefully repacking them. The open format is intended for quick one-handed use during training or other dynamic activity.

The collar is designed to stay open when the pouch is deployed while helping prevent the contents from falling out during movement. On models with an elastic adjustment, the opening can be tuned to the user's preference.

A stiffening element helps the mouth of the pouch retain its shape, making repeated access easier. This is particularly useful when the pouch is mounted behind the hip and operated mostly by feel.
