The Levanter jacket from Helikon-Tex offers lightweight protection against rain and wind, designed for field activities when the weather starts to set its own conditions. Made with a DWR (Durable Water Repellency) coating and an internal PU (polyurethane) layer, it provides 10,000 mm water column waterproofing and 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability, suitable for moderate activity. The jacket is lighter, more compact, and simpler than a traditional hardshell, taking up minimal space while providing immediate protection when needed, whereas a hardshell with a membrane performs better for prolonged, heavy rain activity. The jacket features a 3/4 short zipper for easy on/off and ventilation, a large kangaroo pocket with dual access and two zippers, an adjustable hood for a snug fit, and a lightweight, packable design ideal as an “emergency” layer. The DWR C0 coating ensures eco-friendly water repellency, PU 10K/10K creates a moisture barrier during short-term rain, the 3/4 short zipper allows quick donning and ventilation, and the adjustable hood and kangaroo pocket enhance functionality. Without an active membrane, the Levanter is best used as an emergency rain layer, lightweight, quick to pack, and ready for unpredictable conditions. To maintain durability and functionality, store the jacket in a dry place away from moisture, and regularly renew the PFAS-free DWR C0 coating with suitable waterproofing treatments, as it loses effectiveness over time.
